Chairmaking Basics
Learn the basics of chairmaking.
Learn more about the tools and techniques used in traditional chairmaking. In this introductory course, you will build a chair with a plank seat, tapered legs, shaved green wood spindles and a steam bent crest rail.
Course topics include: splitting and shaving green wood, tapered mortise and tenon joinery, steam bending wood, shaping plank seats, working with traditional hand tools and woodworking machinery, as well as project planning and basic chair design.
In addition to the three full-day classes, two optional evening work sessions will be scheduled to provide additional time to work on your chairs.
